Dreams Do Come True

I purchased Curzon from Windswept Farm Dec. 1st 2000. It was just a year after from when I had lost Rufus. My Mom felt so bad for me when I had lost Rufus that she said here take this money and buy yourself a real nice horse.

I took my time and looked at a number of horses not finding anything that was what I wanted. I called Elke at Windswept Farm, and told her what I was looking for. A couple of weeks later she called me to come to look at what she found might be a good match for me.

When I arrived at Windswept this horse was already on the crossties. One look at him and I knew he was the one. A soft eye and four white feet. I rode him a couple of times and loved him. A deal was made and I took him home Dec. 1st 2000.

His training has gone well. T took him to some shows in 2002 and placed with some descent scores for his first time ever competing. I was not however able to compete in 2003 due to a severely torn muscle in my calf from landing on the base of a jump standard. I was not able to get on my tall boots for four months, so there went the competition season.

My training of him has not gone as well as I had wanted. A car accident on October 27th 2003 has changed the way I ride due to some loss of use of my left arm. It's a continual work in progress. The 2006 competition season has also not gone as well because the weather would not cooperate and Curzon had some mild tying-up spells. He had too many symptoms that are related to EPSM that I decided to change his diet to a high fat, low carbohydrate feed. This type of feeding program does not harm a horse and is actually better for them. Only time will tell but Curzon is doing much better on this feed.

Currently Curzon is schooling at 3rd, 4th levels and some Prix St George movements. I'm also working on his piaffe and passage.
